Learn More About Us

Home base while you enjoy Ft. Stevenson State Park, Lake Sakakawea, & Garrison, ND.

The people of Garrison, North Dakota are known for their friendliness and welcoming attitude. The town was founded by two Taylor Brothers who had found gold in 1903-1904! A few years later they established another camp near today’s Lake Sakakawea which is also close enough so you can enjoy some fishing or hiking while your stay lasts (or both!).

Full service RV Park with 76 sites with both pull-through and back-in spaces.  All sites equipped with water, sewer, and electricity.

Heritage Park and Museum

Preserving the history of Garrison and the surrounding area, the 1905 train depot serves as a museum for period items. The park also features a country school, country church, telephone office, two fully furnished homestead houses, and a log cabin.

Fishing

Garrison is located on the north shore of beautiful Lake Sakakawea. The lake, named for the Native American woman who joined Lewis & Clark 200+ years ago, is the third-largest manmade lake in the United States. It's filled by the Missouri River and contained by the Garrison Dam, the country's fifth largest. This huge lake, with more shoreline than California, is home to numerous species. Walleye is the most popular catch, but anglers can also reel in northern pike, chinook salmon, smallmouth bass, white bass, yellow perch, crappie, and sauger.
